Things to do near Tucson Arizon
Roseville, Ca, United States
I have seen a couple of posts on here about getting to Tucson, so I thought I would add a couple of spots to visit while you are in the area.
It is prime riding weather down in Arizona right now, so maybe this can help a few of you plan a weekend trip. Or maybe even get you to ride down there from further away to explore the region.
These items vary a little in area of interest so hopefully you might find one or two of these a nice destination.
Some of the maps aren't that great, but each place I have listed has a web page you can search for better maps and location information as well as hours of operation.
First up is Biosphere 2. It is a totally enclosed laboratory for studying the effects of us on our environment here on earth.

Biosphere
No address is given on their web page, but they do have the map show as well as directions from different starting points.
They have guided tours which really help you see what science they are doing here.
Next up is the Pima Air and Space museum.

They are located at 6000 E. Valencia Rd in Tucson, Arizona.
I like this place very much.
entrance
Last time I was there you entered by walking under this sky crane.
Since I was there last it seems they have added bus tours of the "Boneyard". This is where the air force stores many retired planes. I have not been on this tour yet, but if it is still offered next time I am in the area you can bet I will be on it.
pima Planes
Along with a few hangers of planes they also have several on display out in the open air.
pima engine
They also have a room dedicated to different engines with this little oops on the walkway leading in.
A little further from town we now come to the Titan Missile museum.

It is located at 1580 W. Duval Mine Road in Sahuanta Arizona.
There are one hour guided tours here also. On the hour on week days and every half hour on weekends if it gets busy,
Titan Control Room
A reminder of the cold war era and what we and Russia were both prepared to do.
Titan Missle
A little farther back in History now to Tombstone Arizona.

The site of the famous "Gunfight at the OK Corral"
Some of the town is in private hands, so you can end up paying entry fees more than once. But there is plenty to see for free as well.

They also have simulated gunfights in the streets as well as the buildings to check out, so take a look at the web site for timing.
Last but not least we have the Kitt Peak observatory.

This is another one where it's good to check the web site for directions, they don't have a street address but if you have a GPS they give you coordinates.

A very nice ride up the hill to the top, you can see a lot of the valley below as you gain the elevation.
So there we have some suggestions from me on what to do near Tucson. Depending on how long you want to stay at each you could see three of these sites in one weekend. I wouldn't want to try more than that, between travel times and time to look around you would probably miss something.
If you are in the area for longer, that much better since it is riding season down there now anyway.
Happy riding.
