Ducati Caffè Roma Aperitivo

restaurant/cafe Rome, Lazio, Italy

You never know what you'll find in Rome. Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of the historical part of the city is the modern Ducati Caffè on via delle Botteghe Oscure at the corner of via M. Caetanijust.

The Ducati caffè is a backdrop to one of the least known historical sites of Rome, the Crypta Balbi, built in 13 BCE. You can explore the ruins and see what the historical center of Rome looked like in ancient times. The site was discovered in the 1980's and exposes the annexe of the theatre Cornelius Balbus erected. He was a close friend and advisor to Julius Cesar, not to mention a chief financier of Rome.

In the café, you're also surrounded with history and vintage Ducati posters. Wether you're a Ducatista or not, a feeling of giddiness washes over you whilst enjoying an espresso next to a wall hanging 1199 Panigale.

Owned by Ducati HQ, the café has a great shop selling everything Ducati including the espresso cups I picked up.

Go for the aperitivo between 5 - 7 pm nightly when a drink and food will set you back 10€. The food is hit or miss. The international menu includes things like gourmet burgers, pizza and caesar salad. Surprisingly, they do however have a good selection of beer, which is rare in Italy.
