The Ultimate Road Trip

Randy Olson is known for creating the optimal search path for finding Waldo through data analysis. Now he's turned his sights on the the ultimate road trip.

The path he's created attempts to find the quickest driving route that includes stops at all the major national landmarks, historical sites and monuments in all of the lower 48 states, including Washington DC and a second stop in California to bring the total stops up to 50.

Something to keep in mind in case you have a month or two and want to really see the United States.

On the other hand, I can't wait to see what becomes of this work on developing a computer algorithm to find the "most beautiful" route between two points. That'd be a great GPS option.
