The Yamaha YX600 Radian is a Japanese made sport motorcycle produced from 1986-1990. It has an air-cooled, DOHC four-stroke, four-cylinder, 598cc engine and a top speed of 125 mph (201.2 km/h).
The Radian shared a detuned version of the FZ-600 engine, which was the Radians racing counterpart . The Radian did not have any high performance parts, it actually used bits and pieces from the parts bin of other Yamaha bikes. This gave it an appearance of a 'naked' bike, which was getting increasing popular at the time. Interestingly because of the YX600's detuning, this contributed to a higher mid range performance. In a head to head race the YX600 easily could pull ahead of the FZ-600 in short range testing. Zero to Sixty in four seconds or less was not uncommon.
Despite the YX600 Radian's poor suspension, it still received accolades from Cycle Guide Magazine as 1986 bike of the year. IT also received ;best buy' honors from just about every other publication. There is no question about its success for Yamaha, some might questions its merits as a classic. However the Radian today is still a best buy for 80's bikes.
