@Slyck255 - It's my first bike, and its a lot faster than the dreaded public transportation!  It does work very well in London - I often am in a group with other bikes on my journeys, and most other riders are on their 600's or more - and I can keep pace.  And I get 84mpg doing it....  there just isn't any real advantage to having a giant bike with my current usage.

I do however wish for a bit more guts.  I am on a restricted license so I cannot take pillion passengers with me, and my wife wants to come for a ride.  I'm not sure how this ride will handle two people - I'm worried I would be more of a hazard on the road if I can't keep up.  We want to do some touring type stuff through the countryside, and a noisy, buzzy 125 would become tiresome very quickly.

I'm hoping to get my full license soon, and with it will come something a bit bigger.

BTW, I am Canadian, from Kingston originally.  Love the Niagara region!

I dunno... In Canada we have the Honda CBR125R - which I'm betting has the same engine as yours and I got it up to 75 mph/120kmh the other week...  wasn't too shabby.

And what other bike can you ride at the red line in a full race tuck even remotely legally?

The CBR125R is not taken seriously in North America - mostly because of the fallacy that "you need a bigger bike for the longer, faster rides".  Yes the 125 is underwhelming power-wise and it makes it a challenge to ride in some situations - but that just forces you to be a better rider and think further ahead.  But a perfect city commuter bike no question.

I was talking to a new rider (got his licence this spring) this past weekend who had quickly moved up from a Yamaha Virago 250 (which has a top speed akin to the CBR125R) to a Yamaha V-Star 650 - this was reasonable as he wanted to do longer rides at sustained highway rides.  But he was talking about "moving up to a 1300 next year" and I asked "why? what will a 1300 do that this won't?".  It made him think....

Cheers and ride safe!
