From Latvia to India on a 23-year-old 125cc Minsk motorcycle
Marcis Pļaviņš has set off on a crazy ride from Latvia to India on a 23-year-old, 125cc, Minsk motorcycle. First epic road is the famous Transfagarasan mountain pass in Romania. Also known as Ceaușescu's Folly, this incredible motorcycle road stretches 90 km with twists and turns that run north to south across the tallest sections of the Southern Carpathians, between the highest peaks in the country connecting Transylvania and Wallachia.
Before Marcis could reach theTransfagarasan, the eternal paranoia about the Minsk reliability became a reality. It quickly broke into two parts.
Marcis finds himslelf in "Minzukki" bubināšu Romania between the two highest peaks: Moldeveanu (2544m) and Negoiu (2535m).
On the Dream Route: Marcis Pļaviņš fixing the Minsk's muffler MacGyver style
"Heading to Romania’s Danube Delta, I stoped to fix Minsk's muffler which started smoking almost as much as I do, so I had to stop him from doing that. I did it MacGyver style and replaced the blown out gasket with a piece from my sleeping bag. Although it worked, we still made couple of improvements on it at my current location: Vama Veche, Romania. [The fix also] cut couple of decibels down and did some other awesome stuff with a great help from Adrian. "
