2014 Triumph Thruxton

I loved this bike the first time I laid eyes on it as it reminded me of my first memories of my fathers old bikes. It is a beautiful mix of aesthetic nostalgia mixed with modern day reliability and practicality. While it isn't over powered, the parallel twin pulls strongly from RPMs that might surprise someone used to standard V Twin power curves. The riding position, while more aggressive than that of a modern cruiser, is just right for someone who likes to canyon carve or partake in rural twisties. In fact, it seems this is where the bike shines brightest. Its easy going personality, eagerness to flick, semi sporty riding position and wonderful exhaust note make running on back roads an absolute thrill. I find myself smiling from ear to ear at times, having flashbacks to the adrenaline and euphoria that I had when I first started riding. It's love for back roads is offset by its less than stellar mannerisms displayed in an urban environment. The vague suspension, plagued by too little travel, is at it's worst when traveling through the rough pavement that defines cities in the US. This probably isn't a best choice for a commuter, but if you can get away on the weekends to those roads that let the Thruxton shine, you will love the soul and personality that seems to beam from this modern classic.
