Hate it when you see gravel on your bike? Check out Stephane Peterhansel and his R1

We've all done it - taken a wrong turn and encountered gravel. I've done it a number of times and when you're in a hurry you sometimes just do not have time to go back the way you came. Normally, it's not a problem. You ride slow, keep your feet down and generally do not have much fun.

So, it was a surpise and delight to see this guy, Stephane Peterhansel riding in the sand dunes of Merzouga, Morocco.

If you're not aware, Stephane isn't an amateur when it comes to this sort of thing - He's a six time winner of the Dakar rally for example.

the bike itself is a stock YZR-R1 from Yamaha with the only concession being hand-cut tires. Still, that's 180hp of sportbike fury in a place where most of us would be scared to take a 250 single cylinder.

No matter how you look at it, you have to admire these skills and I only wish I could do this
