Yamaha DT-07 Dirt Tracker Concept - AIMExpo 2015

Ever looked at the Yamaha FZ-07 and thought “that would make an awesome dirt tracker”? Well, so did the boffins at Yamaha.

Starting with just the engine and the fuel tank covers, they’ve turned their street bike into the kind of weapon that they hope will lead dirt-track packs in the near future.

The shortened wheelbase posed a challenge, but somehow they still managed to include a linkage suspension and ultimately lead to a complete new frame. Along with pretty much everything else.

The end result simply simmers with sexiness in it’s Yamaha Yellow 60th anniversary trim.

At this point, it’s a shame it’s just a concept, but it’s one that you have think may just make it to the production line. Stick a front brake on it and some (very modest lights) and I think this would sell in some pretty decent numbers.

@Octane  - there's always one bike you regret giving up. In my case, it was my XJ900F. Completely customized as a muscle bike. I'm sure it looked like crap but as I don't have any photos, I cannot remember any more.

Either way, it was my first "real" bike and I thought it was awesome

I'd love to have one. Bought a FZ09 in yellow back in 2015, one of the coolest bikes I ever owned. Wish I hasn't traded it in...smh

Make it more of a Scrambler then go toe to toe with Triumph and Ducati. It's there, I can see it...c'mon Yamaha, do it!
