Ducati launches the new all-black limited edition Scrambler Italia Independent

With the inception of the Ducati Scrambler in 2014, Ducati presents not only a new accessible motorbike aimed at the youthful [minded] and stylish rider, Ducati delivers on simplified high quality engineering. I know I've tested the Scrambler. If you haven’t heard, Ducati is building Scrambler into a stand-alone brand. It’s a bold move intended to create a new enterprise and bring new riders to the passion.

Smack in the middle of art show Art Basel transforming Miami Beach into a huge contemporary art gallery, Ducati and design house, Italia Independent, unveiled the fruit of their collaborative labor with the launch of a new, limited edition Scrambler.

Italian motorcycles have a way of causing a socialite hubbub and so it was on Monday, December 7th at Miami Beach’s $1100-a-night Setai Hotel. Ducati launched the new Scrambler and a collection of dedicated sunglasses – needed to filter all the glitz and dazzle that characterizes the Italia Independent and Ducati Scrambler Italia partnership.

Ducati declares the ‘Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent’ an original, unique interpretation of this motorbike, aimed at a sophisticated clientele interested in new trends while still looking and feeling like a Scrambler.

The limited edition black and bronze Scrambler run is only 1,077 units and each bike has an aluminum plate with laser etching of each unit's serial number. Ducati Scrambler has innovated a number of logos for the brand - one for each Scrambler and a special logo has been created for, what we’re calling, the Scrambler II (eye-eye).

The Ducati Scrambler II is café racer styling in matte black with bronze frame and wheels. The engine, brushed cylinder head fins and visible machining, as well as full exhaust and Termignoni silencer are all in black. And that goes for the low handlebar with variable section and aluminum rear mirrors mounted on the ends.

The short front mudguard, the essential nose fairing, the frame and the wheels are all painted “Night Copper” (a black designed for this special edition). At night, count on the Scrambler II to be completely bad-ass invisible.

The Ducati Scrambler sunglasses uncloak a matte finish, a rubber surface treatment, mirrored copper-coloured lenses like the internal part of the frame. The inside surface of both the bridge and the temples also share the colour of the bike frame and some details of the Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent: copper with a “brushed” effect.

The Scrambler shades are a nice touch, and without a doubt, this is the best looking Scrambler yet. The new Scrambler will be available in April 2016, and we're waiting for word on avails for the Ducati sunglasses.

Lapo Elkann was born into automotive royalty, the 38 year-old president of Italia Independent, is the New York-born, Italian Entrepreneur and grandson of Gianni Agnelli, the former CEO of Fiat Automobiles and one of the richest men in modern Italian history. Before starting his own company, Elkann worked as a personal assistant to Henry Kissinger. He was a marketing associate for Ferrari and Maserati. In 2003, he became Fiat's Director of Marketing and coordinated the reinvention of classics like the Fiat Punto and Fiat 500.
