I'm not sure why drivers are against it, they would benefit just as much from lane splitting as the riders. I bet it would also encourage more people to get on a bike, further reducing traffic congestion. I'm sending this link to my city councilor...

Have to agree - Lane splitting should be actively encouraged for urban motorcycling. We don't need to sit in heat breathing traffic fumes because cagers are too stupid to understand.
