MAY - The month for?

Toronto, On, Canada

Of course the big answer is get out and ride but what else should be on your mind? It has been a few months since you went to the annual motorcycle show in your area of Canada, the snow and salt has gone from the road surface and you need to again feel the adrenaline flowing your body again.

However there is one other item of motorcycling that you should consider, the safety of you and your fellow riders. Again this year MAY will be known as a time where dedicated riders like you have worked through the winter months to bring an educational safety awareness program. Even new riders know that a major danger to their riding enjoyment will potentially come from car drivers turning left in front of them or changing lanes without checking their mirrors and blind spots.

With a couple of months before MAY does come around this year a national motorcycle safety committee needs more help to spread the safety words far and wide across the country. Perhaps you are in the media field and can help to publicize the various national events being held; or a celebrity who may has personal victim knowledge of how easy it is to get involved in a crash.

There are thousands of businesses that depend on the sales and servicing of motorcycles and riders who can contribute to a worthwhile safety program and if 1% of all motorcycle riders spent an hour a year to promote and support safety many thousands of riders would be spared the pain of sometimes life threatening injuries.

To get involved just reply to me with an indication in how you can help. Many motorcycle clubs both off and on road will be doing their part but safety does start with YOU.
