Indy IMS Favorites
The beautiful thing about any bike show is there's a vast variety of bike creativity for your eyes to feast on. There are stunning mega expensive customs that are made to win shows and there are the more practical styles that seem to beg you to swing a leg over them and twist the throttle. The trends are all there at the show.
The individualistic styles and execution of formed metal and paint selections seem to always intrigue. When I was a young ‟gear head” the paint schemes on Peterbuilt and Kenworth semi trucks always drew my attention to their color combinations and attention to detail. It made me want to paint my AMT model kit cars the same way. Color is one of the first things that is noticed on a vehicle. You can have all the chrome accessories in the book on a bike and if the color is wrong the viewers will not respond to it in an appreciative ‟wow”. The popularity of using flats to gloss is, and has been for a while, a style that always makes an interesting alternative to chrome.
The bikes that struck my chord at the Indy show were the simple, well executed works that were tastefully done. The Café', Bobber, and Flat Track looks were my favorites. Basic motorcycles with classic lines and not much chrome. The ad series for Allstate Motorcycle Insurance are currently using bikes that favor my taste.
Here are some of my favorites from the show.
