First Taste: Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory

I finally got the chance to taste the little Italian dish I have been salivating over for over a year: the Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 Factory.

I just finished riding the BMW S1000R, which I will review shortly. The 1290 KTM SuperDuke was my fave of 2015. So the legendary Tuono has some awesome competition.

So?

I have to say at first I was actually a little uncertain. It was definitely unhappy in city traffic at lower rpm. But then...

Really wind it up and it suddenly unleashes a whole lot of "zing" and "aha" and "ooooh" on the highway. And the handling in the corners was brilliant. 

In short, the Tuono is definitely the kind of bike you need to get to know so you can caress and finesse it in just the right way. My test bike was a one-day dealer demo from Corsa Meccanica in Toronto and unfortunately I only had time in my schedule to fit in a few hours this time. But you can be certain that after just a few minutes I was wearing a big smile.
