- Route

Queanbeyan - Batemans Bay - Kangaroo Valley - Queanbeyan

Distance: 459.2 Km / 286.1 Mi Duration: 06:09:56

Total distance 460km

9.00am on a Sunday morning I set off for what was to be a great ride.

The route to Braidwood was uneventful passing just 1 police car on roads signposted mostly 100km/h. About 10km out of Braidwood at the top of the mountin there were about 5km of roadworks, most of which was gravel roads, after which there is a long winding road down to the coast.

At the coast we headed north, passing through the town of Ulladulla, stopping at Nowra. Most of this road is 100km/h however there are a couple of small towns where the limit goes down to 50km/h. Stopped off for fuel and food before heading home through Kangaroo Valley on some very tight corners. Once at the top of the mountin, we followed the road to the highway for a short period.

I turned off the highway on Jerrara Road at the Marulan turn off, headded shouth. After passing through Bungonia I turned off onto Lumley Road. This is were I made my mistake. I should have carried on down the road and soon found out I had about 30km of gravel roads. This would be grat if I was on an adventure bike, but as I was on an FJR1300, this wasn't ideal. The bike did well and I didn't drop it which is the main thing. I got back on the tarmac just before Tarago and headed home.

In total the journey took over 5 hours. Bit cold away from the coast but great riding weather at the coast. Sorry no photos today
