2013 Zero XU - Electric Motorcycle 512 MPGe

The 2013 Zero XU is an electric bike in production since 2011. It's manufactured by American company Zero Motorcycles located in Santa Cruz, California. Described as an urban crosser, mixing a dirt bike with street tires, the XU can go upto 76 mi (122 km) on one charge.

The Zero XU is powered by Z-Force 75-5 passive air-cooled, high efficiency radial flux permanent magnet brushless motors. The Lithium Ion batteries power a clutch-less direct drive belt and the motor outputs 42 ft lbs of torque. It can reach maximum speeds of 77 mph (124 km/h) and can sustain 65 mph (105 km/hr).

The Xu's equivalent fuel economy is 512 MPGe (0.46 L/100 km) in city riding. It can be purchased with a 2.8 kWh or a 5.7 kWh battery. The 2.8 kWh battery can output 27 hp and the charge can last 38 miles (61 km) of city riding. The 5.7 kWh battery can output 28 hp and the charge can last 76 miles (122 km) of city riding.

Standard 0-100% charge times range from 4.1 hours for the 2.8 kWh model to 7.8 hours for the 5.7 kWh model. Both batteries can also be charged in 1.5 hours at a CHAdeMO charge station. To find more information on CHAdeMO charging stations follow this link.

The seat height is 31.1 in (790 mm) and the curb weight is listed at 225 lbs (102 kg) for the 2.8 kWh model and 267 lbs (121 kg) for the 5.7 kWh model.
