MPC 2016: last two days of riding and my 200th post on ESR!

Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Riding for the Motorcycle Podcasters Challenge the past two days has been more in line with what I hoped for when the challenge started. Sunday I had a place to be approximately 80 miles from my house. Since I was going solo and not taking the family, it presented the perfect opportunity to ride, collect points, and do something at the same time. So my manager for my day job is a really cool guy and he made a trip to Raleigh to see a family friend. We decided to meet up for lunch, which would be the first time we've met in person as he lives in Chicago and I'm in Charlotte. It was cool meeting up and we enjoy a second breakfast (1pm) at David's Restaurant in Asheboro, NC.

Most of the ride covered NC-49 passing just north of the Uwharrie National Forest. I spotted some interesting signs along the route such as; Pisgah Covered Bridge and the Badin lake overlook. Since @spdfntk is 70 or so miles the other side of Asheboro, he and I will be using this area as a meeting point for many future rides.

Riding today was mainly local roads around my home. I used the lunch hour to explore some roads I've not been on in a while or ever and to just see what is going on in the neighborhood. Some construction here and there and next thing you know, some places start to look very different. It was nice to just look around and take in what is happening in the area, even if the riding around my house is just terrible from a motorcycle perspective. I did a little stint on the highway to increase the mileage before getting back to the day job.

Ten days left in the challenge, so it's full throttle from here on out to try and at least narrow the gap on Throttled, who has been very steady during this challenge.

We'll talk about this trip and more on the next episode of our Loud Pipes! podcast.
