Winnipeg is a unique city in the middle of Canada, about 2 hours north of Grand Forks, North Dakota. To say 'it's cold' in Winnipeg, Manitoba is an understatement. In the depths of winter, the bitter prairie winds can get un- human; I won't shock you with the temperatures. You get the idea.

Winnipegers are a hearty lot and the city is known for friendly people, cuture, music, good food and, of course winter.

You don't see many motorcycle riders out in Winnipeg because the season can be so very short. Sometimes you get lucky in April with warm winds, but not this year, it was very cold in Winnipeg.

To my surprise, while in Winnipeg last weekend, we bumped into the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers hanging out at the Forks. They were meeting up for a nice ride on a sunny Sunday with temps dipping to -4 degrees celcius (24 fahrenheit).

Nationally, the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers or CMCis about 5,000 riders, in Winnipeg you'll find about 200 riders. These guys (and girls) are a very friendly group. They welcome any make or model of motorcycle and are non- gender bias. Women, men, pillions, partners, spouses and family are all welcome. There's no membership fee to join either.

I asked about twisties in the Winnipeg area. Not much I was told, it's the Prairies after all, but a few scenic rides do exist in the Whiteshell area. I came across the River City Rides website which lists three (4) scenic motorcycle routes just outside Winnipeg. If you can do the rides, or you've done them, please comment below.
