H4 Opt Fluxbeam Led review: milage may vary by headlight housing

Westerville, Ohio, United States

So after much research and trying other bogus Amazon/ebay kits for leds and hids for my cb1000r I concluded on the this oddly shaped L/R (not up and down) bulb. It was the right price at $54.99 and claimed a pretty high 3500 lumens for a single unit. Needless to say, don't look at it when testing it; as Ray told Egon not to look at the trap. In short, It is blinding.

Now reflector housings have an issue with these kinds of bulbs for both light scatter and dazzling oncoming traffic. However in the cb1000r the beam is quite focused, has a massive range (in both low and high beam) and it lights the roads up evenly. Easily three to four times as bright as my old Silverstar ultras. However, it doesn't cut off the light, nor has shields for the lows. Meaning that in most cases you might end up dazzling oncoming traffic. I haven't been flashed yet, but for those in states that are critical towards headlight modifications you might want to go with the kit GTR Lighting sells. It's significantly more expensive at $239.99 for two bulbs however it is an up/down style led and should work in reflector housings.

Installation of these bulbs does require cutting the boot to allow the heat sink fins to breathe. But setup for the most part is simple and easy. Because the socket is outside the dust boot, I would recommend wrapping the plug with outdoor electrical tape to keep water out. I would also recommend getting 3m double stick tape to mount the ballast as well.

This bulb is probably the brightest bulb I have used next to a 55w hid kit and has only the dazzling part as one of the drawbacks. For the price it is hard to best this bulb in performance.
