The 2nd Annual Women's Motorcycle Show; A Great Night Supporting a Great Cause

The Second Annual Women's Motorcycle Show

Last night was the Second Annual Women's Motorcycle Show at the Lucky Wheels Garage in Los Angeles. Over a dozen bikes built "by and for women" were on display in an evening celebrating women in the motorcycling world.

Hundreds of two-wheel-enthusiasts turned out for a night of drinks, good people and all things motorcycle, all the proceeds of which were contributed to a wonderful cause - the St. Jude's Child Cancer Research Hospital.

The use of pink highlights on the tank badge, exhaust phalanges. Running switches, rear suspension and carb parts, as well as the lace-clad mirrors made this bike an obvious choice for the show

Alicia Elfving, better known as the Motolady, organized and hosted the 2nd Annual Women's Motorcycle Show. And while this event was initially intended to celebrate Alicia's success, she's shifted that focus over to women in motorcycling. Industry connections and calling on a few friends to call in a few favors allowed Alicia to put on an amazing night for anyone passionate about bikes. It was really admirable how she was able to coordinate such a large event like this that anyone was welcome to enjoy while and at the same time generating funds for such a good cause - a perfect example of a win/win.

The large open lot in the back of Lucky Wheels Garage was the home to the main bike exhibit featuring a large collection of custom bikes built or owned by women. There were a few bikes covered in pink paint, using powder coating as highlights, but mostly there were simply bad-ass customs who's builder's gender weren't apparent just by looking at the bike. Alicia also brought along her now Instagram-famous Ducati Monster, and while I had seen it in photos, the subtle details are what makes it really special. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

This 2010 S1000RR has aesthetic mods as well as a full Taylormade Exhuast system. One of if not the nicest out-of-the-box exhausts available to the public

The range of different types of people in attendance was astounding: hipsters, 1%er MC members, off-road enthusiasts, sportbike junkies, business owners and just about any other category of biker imaginable. The crowd truly represented the motorcycle's ability to bring different kinds of people together over a common passion, and the entire night had an upbeat atmosphere.

Several companies sponsored the event and supplied a few of their products to be raffled off, including a Revit Jacket, Sena Bluetooth & Action Camera, an AGV Helmet, Tobacco Jeans, and a custom-painted gas tank. In addition, MV Augusta had donated a custom Brutale. A single ticket to win this magnificent machine, was only $25 (or $100 for 5) - quite the bargain when the prize was a brand-new MV. And again, 100% of the proceeds went for St. Jude's Child Cancer Research Hospital.

To keep the crowd powered up, a Texas-style BBQ food-truck was camped just outside the garage, and 805 supplied the beer. And, at one point a motorcycle piñata, which was included in the night's festivities, showered the floor beneath it with candy, 1oz plastic bottles of liquor and stickers and patches from various companies such as AGV and Dainese.

While it's extremely subtle, the high/low beam, neutral, signal, oil indicator lights are custom and sit flush in the Triple tree. A fantastically executed mod

All-in-all the Second Annual Women's Motorcycle Show was a major success. I left particularly happy to have won a new Sena 10R com system in the raffle. Based on last night it seems like a forgone conclusion that there will be a Third Annual Woman's Motorcycle Show, next year.

The use of leather on this custom Honda made it truly unique. The seat, grips, tank badge, knee-guards, tool bag, shift lever and even the kickstand all were made of leather or used leather accents
