HI Alex, we have the 650's aswell and we use only the 650s for our tours in South America for just those reasons, easy to maintain, easy to handle and not too big so that a majority of riders can ride them. In Australia though we have all the GS bikes from the 650's, 700s, 800s and 1200s as well as the Sertaos....In South America the terrain is variable and each road is different but in Australia you have a lot of wide open spaces with those long straight roads so the bigger bikes make the ride much more comfortable. A 1200 GS is excellent for the roads here. For Tasmania though its better to switch back to the 800 for the twisty bits....
How come you went with the F800 for the fleet? I would though the 650s might have been easier to handle and maintain?
