Yamaha became the first company to introduce a superbike in the true litre class with the YZF R1 in 1998. The model has ruled the hearts of speed lovers from its inception with a top speed of 190 mph and is capable of reaching the 0-60 mph mark in just 3 seconds. A true racing motorcycle in every sense, the YZF R1 beats the competitors in the segment with superior handling capabilities.

4. Kawasaki Ninja ZX 14R

The Kawasaki Ninja generates ample power through its 1441cc engine, and is one of the proud members of the 200 Horsepower family. Though the Ninja ZX 14 R features a heavy engine, it maintains an impressive torque to weight ratio as it generates 115 lb-ft torque. Acceleration is fairly decent as the superbike clocks the 0-60 mph mark in as low as 2.5 seconds and swears by its top speed of 186 mph.

5. Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R

The Hayabusa was introduced in 1999 and has readily claimed the fame as the fastest motorcycle in the world. Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R currently ranks number sixth among fastest motorcycles of all time. The first model in 1999 featured a 1299 cc, 4-cylinder engine, capable of generating 197 Horsepower at 6750; however, an improved version was introduced in 2008 with a top speed of 186 mph.

What's a salvage auction? I buy from police auctions in Los Angeles a lot. Also none of these 5 bikes are currently in the top 10 fastest bikes although some of them held that title when they first came out.
