Seeing a woman riding a motorcycle is great, but being a woman on a motorcycle? Spectacular.

"Whether it’s for freedom, adventure, spiritual experience, confidence, independence, or community, women are taking to motorcycles with an increased voracity." writes Liz Jansen in her article "Shifting the Balance of Power: Why More Women are Riding Motorcycles and How That’s Driving Change."

Although women have been riding motorcycles longer than they have had the right to vote, there are far more women choosing to ride, making it the fastest growing demographic.

The benefits aren't just personal, the increasing number of women riders has a positive impact on the motorcycle industry and society in many ways.

"For many female riders, mastering a motorcycle has served as a catalyst for other long-awaited life changes", states Jansen. In addition to the growth in motorcycle sales, women who feel more confident and happy are more likely to follow through on their professional goals and report having higher levels of success in their relationships.

Dr. Laura Ellis started AXcess Racing to promote emerging racers in the US, Lankila MacNaughton founded the Women's Photo Exhibit and the Dream Roll, the Moto Lady - Alicia Mariah Elfving - builds motorcycles and has been connecting and inspiring women riders tirelessly for years and there are too many racers to mention (though I'm putting up a few pictures.)

I could continue to name women riders who have contributed to every area of riding but suffice it to say that the tide is strong and fierce and it's good for all of us.

Great article! For some reason I can't give it a like ...but it's fantastic to see the surge in female riders 😉

I did a Live Stream on YouTube about this. I think there should be more awareness and RESPECT given to female riders...https://youtu.be/U6SdhT1yjfw
