Ducati presents the new Monster 797: accessible to everyone. The Monster 797 represents the gateway drug to the Ducati world.

Since dropping the smaller Monster from the lineup in 2015, the only true entry-level bike Ducati had was the Scrambler 803cc. It's fun but it's not for everyone. Ducati needed a new, entry-level sporty bike.

Developed around the same 803cc air-cooled engine found in the Scrambler, and the Monster 796 before that, the new 797 engine weighs in at 425 lb. producing about 75 hp. Introducing the new 2017 Monster 797.

Made for the first time Ducati rider, the Monster 797 is the most accessible of the Ducati nakeds. Everything on the Monster 797 recalls the iconic 90s version of the bike with added modernity: from the Trellis frame to the air-cooled L-twin engine and round headlight.

The low seat and wide handlebars inspire confidence. Contained weight and agile chassis geometry give riders outstanding 'feel', control and handling whatever their level of experience.

With its compact yet beefy tank, iconic headlight and tapered tail, the Monster 797 is clean and sinewy. The Desmodue air-cooled L-twin engine is cradled in the Trellis frame, showcasing the mechanics in inimitable Monster style.

For safety, the as-standard Bosch ABS works in concert with a front braking system consisting of two 320 mm Brembo discs gripped by two Brembo M4.32 radial calipers.

With a maximum power of 75 hp at 8,250 rpm the Monster 797 puts performance and fun within everyone's grasp. The Monster 797 L-twin is made for those purchasing their first Ducati or their first motorcycle, yet still offers fun-packed riding for even the most expert motorcyclist.

@alex will be testing the new Monster 797 for @EatSleepRIDE in Nice, France at the end of March, 2017. Nice is so nice! Review and routes will be added upon return.

The Monster 797 is available in Ducati Red, for USD $9,295, and Star White Silk, for USD $9,395.

MT09 is a lot faster and about the same price. also has quick shifter

Ducati does offer the 400cc Scrambler 62 also as far as entry level machines go that they currently make. Albeit I wouldn't describe it as very sporty. While the monster is a staple in the motorcycle world I wish they made the same cosmetic updates on this one that they did for it's larger CC'd siblings.
