Kicking Off the Summer Season and Connecting The Motorcycle Community

Ride For Sight Celebrates Their 35th Anniversary

Ladies and gentleman, start your engines!

Hundreds of engines roar to life as the master of ceremonies at Ride For Sight Central Ontario announces the beginning of the 35th annual event. The ground shakes enough that the suburban dwellers in the surrounding area may have become concerned. As the event kicks off, the bikes file out of the parking lot on their trek to Tudhope Park in Orillia.

Ride For Sight is one of the oldest charity rides in North America, and to- date, it has raised $19 million in support of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Besides supporting a great cause, the event is a highlight for many motorcycle riders who love coming together as a community.

‟For a lot of people, this is the only motorcycle event they do all year,” says Mike Harwood, the chair of Ride For Sight. ‟I have been a part of this event for over 10 years, and [many people] are meeting up with friends from 15-20 years ago that they met at this event.”

Tudhope Park is where the party gets started; musicians play in between motocross shows, before the day's highlight event for many riders: the Bike Games.

From the Keg Push to the final Bite the Weenie event, riders get to show off their more unconventional skills on a bike.

The bright sun, the smell of sunscreen, and the sense of camaraderie between old and new friends speaks to what the EatSleepRIDE App for iOS is all about: bringing the motorcycle community together to help them ride better and safer. The event was a great start to the summer, and a perfect reminder of why we built the EatSleepRIDE App in the first place.
