We had big ideas for a full day, until the incident

Everything was set for a great day of riding. Great weather, great friends and a long route planned out. All of us are experienced riders. My friends, I ride with, are a married couple and both ride. They have ridden in Europe and now live in the Northern Virginia area. We were about an hour into the ride when my friends wife hit a pothole that almost launched her. The sun was out and we were transitioning from bright sun to shadowed canaopy, and the pothole was just inside the shadows and hidden. She was okay and didn't indicate any problem. We continued for about 20 more miles and then it was time for a break. As we rolled to a stop, my friend let out an exclamation and said: "Look at your RIM!!"....Luckily we were just minutes from a Harley dealer. The prognosis was safe enough to go home but replace tire and rim ASAP and no more riding.
