My Canada150 Eastwards Adventure, Day 2

Distance: 243.5 Km / 151.7 Mi Duration: 03:44:26

Much to my dismay, ESR crashed sometime after Parliment in Ottawa, and I didn't notice untill hours and kilometers later when I'd finally gotten through being lost in Montreal. During rush hour. Seriously who puts exit ramps on the -left-. In any event, for the sake of posterity, I submit these Google tracking collar readings from my Maps Timeline.

Ottawa to the Long Sault Parkway, West of Cornwall.

Ottawa to the Long Sault Parkway, West of Cornwall.

Hit up the Long Sault Parkway if you're in the region, it's a road that crosses over several vertical islands on the St. Lawrence river. Very nice scenery, and several beaches and picnic areas to relax at.

Cornwall to Montreal.

Please enjoy this pullout from IN Montreal.

And lastly Montreal to Quebec City.

And lastly Montreal to Quebec City.

Staying at a hostel in the old city. WARNING: You'd think a place trying to look and sound so much like Europe would be perfect for bikers! Tiny alley like roads between three story buildings! Hills! Narrow streets with no sidewalks, pedestrians on the roads, and ridiculously tight blind corners! ... Wait what do you mean “no motorcycles allowed”? That sign -clearly- showed a cruiser. THIS is a naked sport.

Okay so a rapid Internet search found Ryan at Fort Nine’s Quebec trip, where he encountered the same thing, and said (quote):

“Anywhere in Vieux Québec, which is the bit you want to be in, it’s illegal to ride a motorcycle. I’m told that this is a remnant from the Quebec Biker war, when the sound of Harley-Davidsons went from “annoying” to “terrifying.” But good news! There’s a motorcycle-shaped loophole in Québec City’s bylaw. Entry is granted to riders with hotel reservations inside the old city.”

(Source: <a href="[https://fortnine.ca/en/quebec-city-motorcycle-trip/](https://fortnine.ca/en/quebec-city-motorcycle-trip/)">https://fortnine.ca/en/quebec-city-motorcycle-trip/</a> )

That explains why it’s a cruiser! But really, shouldn’t lump us all in with old Harley hoodlums.

I could barely even hear my bike over the sounds coming from all the bars, clubs, and screaming drunks, so clearly the “it’s noisy” argument is out dated.

But! Seeing as I have a hostel reservation, I’m good. The city underground parking nearby even had a specific motorcycle section across from the exit guard booth, with three other bikes.

Untill tomorow, if I can get Internet where I'm going!

(If anyone actually read this far and is interested, I'm keeping a small photo blog over at https://riderdrauggrim.tumblr.com/ )
