CUSTOM FABRICATED FIBERGLASS SEAT FOR FRANKEN-Bike* VINTAGE BOBBER BRAT
Marina del Rey, California, United States
Helloo!!
This is more like a draft post in the works, photos of the steps are on the way as well as the finished product
I am creating a seat for my 1978 Honda XL175,
that has a 1981 CM200 engine in it..
I began by taking a roll of hobby wire mesh, you seen used for creating fake rocks or mountains for a train set. It's very malleable, so it can be twisted and turned, squashed and formed to the frame.
I unrolled the mesh and folded it over so it was doubled to give it more strength before bending it into place.
After that I used masking tape across the entire bottom of the pan, to hold any residue resin that might get thru.
Then I cut pieces of the Fiberglass matt, which fit the length of the seat perfectly, then put a garage bag over the frame and onto the gas tank, to keep things clean.
Afterwards I mixed up a batch of resin and poured it onto the top, and used a brush to push it around in a uniform manner..
2nd coat.
3rd coat.
