Problems with the Honda CB500 series?

So, while we love the Honda CB500 series, it turns out there may be a grievous problem with them.

Reports suggest that to maintain warranty coverage, the entire range will need to undergo an expensive valve clearance check at just 600 miles/1000km. While it is apparently listed in the owners manual, it's not clear that it's such an expensive procedure. Reports from the UK suggest that service will cost between GBP250-300, so expect $400+ in Canada/US.

For a bike sold to the budget conscious, it's an unwelcome shock, especially so early in the bikes life.
