My quick and (very) dirty cottage dirt ride

Distance: 18.8 Km / 11.7 Mi Duration: 01:02:59

It's not much of a run. Perhaps 20km in distance but its fairly close to my cottage and readily accessible.

Around this area, it's known as the Power Line Trail because it runs along the power lines.

Although its not too long, it's reasonably technical. There's some short wooded sections, some reasonable and rocky climbs and some decent puddle jumps. Expect your baseplate to get bashed and the waterproofing on your boots to be well tested.

Power line trails - water crossings come in all sizes.

Overall, it takes me anywhere from 20-30 minutes in each direction and there's an easy gas station at the Norland (southern) end if you continue down to Monck road.

I tend to do one or two loops at a time for a decent adrenaline rush.

For the more adventurous, there are some short single tracks that lead off at various points and you can make a day of it by heading out to Kinmount at the Northern end where (I believe) it links up with a tame of other trails.

Ride on.

@Ssloan - The road is very accessible. There's easy parking at either end. I think you technically need to be a member of OFTR to ride, but I've been out many times this year and never once had an issue (or seen anyone). If you do want to head up, let me know and I'll meet you up there to show you around

I drive through Kinmount all the time on my way to visit the folks. Would love to bring my dirt bike next time and stop for an hour of thrashing the woods. Is this road easily accessible and available to the public (ie: no trail dues)?

I like it. Just fixed my bashed-in bash plate too. I will not be crossing any more railway tracks that lack level crossings. That looks great but methinks I'd need knobbies. I am getting a pair of TKC80s next week. I might have shoot up and try this.
