Dixie Mountain Loop

Distance: 38.3 Km / 23.9 Mi Duration: 00:42:14

I call this the Dixie Mountain Loop because, well it climbs Dixie Mountain. This one's pretty simple but does have some turns and directions associated with it. It's off in the country but easily accessible. I start this one at the Old Hich'en Post Restaurant, because why wouldn't you? It's another biker friendly place with a nice sized lot that's good for meet-ups and food. You could also start at the Rogue Brew Pub in North Plains too.

This loop takes you past the McMenamins Rock Creek Tavern which has a great atmosphere and live music including Irish Trad on Sunday nights but awful McMenamins food and sub-par, expensive McMenamins beer. Do what you will...

It then takes you up the top section of Skyline Road and back down through some back roads, past some Pygmy Sheep and back to the Old Hich'en Post. There are a lot of fun roads that come off of this loop and it's quick access to Hwy 26 and Hwy 30. Stay off Logie Trail if you want to go to or come from Hwy 30, it's crap for motorcycles. Cornelius Pass and Germantown are better options.

Take care on Skyline in colder months as it's shaded and can ice up and keeps snow a bit longer than roads around it. As always on Oregon back roads, keep and eye out for gravel and critters.

Have fun and rally safe!
