The Battle of Gettysburg marked the high point of the Civil War, taking some 50,000 lives between the Union and Confederate Armies.
For those of you who want to visit Gettysburg, PA, but don't want to spend a lot of time walking through museums, there is a short 2.6 mile route that takes you into the "Field of Death", the actual battlefield where the bloody engagement occured July 1-3, 1863.
You can stay on your motorcycle, not pay any fees, and see where the actual battle took place.
The route is lined with stone memorials for every unit, division, and company that fought. The high point of the route is "The Peace Light", located along Confederate Avenue at the northern end of the loop.
Start your route along Hwy 116 (Fairfield Rd) and cruise slowly north.
