Get Ready! PD13 in Port Dover, Ontario - Friday, September 13th, 2013

PD13 is one of the largest motorcycle events in North America. Over 150,000 biker will descend on this small town for the 54th day of Mardi Gras and pageantry. This year the Port Dover Friday the 13th or PD13 is taking place September 13, 2013 in Port Dover, Ontario.

It all started on Friday the 13, 1981 when 25 teenagers gathered at a hotel called Angelos of Dover. They had such a great time, they decided to make it a Friday the 13th tradition. As the years have gone by, the group of riders grew bigger and bigger. The event is expected to grow to over 170,000 attendees this year. PD13 claims to be the biggest single-day motorcycle event in the world.

Friday the 13th doesn't happen very often therefore making this Friday, September 13th the first PD13 of 2013.

Considering the small town is packed as early as 5 AM, Port Dover closes its street to all vehicles except for motorcycles.

Things to do

If you're planning to attend this event, expect crowds. Here's a few things worth seeing:

• A number of vendors will be on site
• Music and performances at the Budwieser main stage and at the Kin Park Campground
• Flat Track motorcycle races at Norfolk Country Fairground start at 4 PM, just 5 minutes from Port Dover
