If you missed last year’s inaugural Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival Presented by Pfaff Harley-Davidson, you’ll have to excuse my boldness for a second, you missed something really magical. For the first time ever in Canada, a film festival dedicated to motorcycles and motorcycle culture came to life and brought together our community in a very unique way.

Last year, filmmakers from around the world submitted over 60 movies from about 20 different countries, something that far exceeded our exceptions. From those 60 movies we chose 16 which we screened over the course of the Festival weekend; movies that we thought best resonated with our audience and with the theme of the Festival. The Festival ended on Sunday with an awards presentation for Best Canadian, Feature, and Short Films which were chosen by our Judging Panel. We also handed out the People’s Choice Award as chosen by our audience.

Here’s a recap of the winning films. You can click on each one to get more detail about that particular film.

Best Canadian Film Chasing Evel: The Robbie Knievel Story, directed by Jesse James Miller

Best Feature Film Dream Racer, directed by Simon Lee

Best Short Film Giovanni Burlando’s Vision, directed by Ugo Roffi

People’s Choice Award Dream Racer, directed by Simon Lee

After a successful first year, planning for the 2018 edition is already underway. In January, we opened the film submission window and in the last month and a half, more than 20 films have been submitted. I am so excited to see that filmmakers who are passionate about motorcycles and the amazing stories that they invoke continue to produce moto themed films. I can tell you that there’s some incredible films in that bunch and I can’t wait to share them with you.

The 2nd annual Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival will take place September 27 - 30, 2018 at the Revue Cinema in Toronto. We’re also planning a couple of other events leading up to the main Festival so stay tuned for that info.

On August 4th, we will announce the official selection of films for this year’s festival along with ticket sales info. You can get more details and stay on top of all the news by visiting our website at torontomotofilmfest.com or via our social media channels @torontomotofilmfest.

See you on the red carpet!
