BBC Monthly Sunday Ride - Goulburn and Taralga

Distance: 317.7 Km / 198.0 Mi Duration: 05:59:01

We set of from Bundanoon just after 8:30am with 10 riders at a pleasant but cool 16°C. The normal way through Tallong (John K’s FJR and a kangaroo came almost too close for comfort) to the Hume Hwy then left at Marulan South to Bungonia. Unfortunately the road to Bungonia was undergoing a lot of roadworks so it was slow going. It cleared up and the last part of the run into Goulburn was good. Morning tea at the Greengrocer Cafe was the usual good food and coffee.

Chris D and William left us at Goulburn to attend to other affairs so 8 of us headed off towards Crookwell and enjoyed the roads we have come to love. Again John K almost came too close for comfort with half-a-dozen kangaroos and we all caught a few airborne bugs! Crookwell then Taralga then out the other side to see some lovely countryside that John K knew where to find. After a quick comfort break and dodging a few calves that had made their way out onto the road, we went back to Taralga for a lovely lunch at the Tangled Vine. They were doing a good trade with the Taralga Show in progress.

We left Taralga at about 1:40pm and it was a warm 30°C. The trip home was a quiet affair with John K, Bruce, John H, Robin, Jim and Chris p stopping at Goulburn for fuel while Tony and I (Jason) took the Hume Hwy then the usual track through Tallong back to Bundanoon.

As always, a great ride with a great bunch!
