Popular motovlogger Annette Carrion dies in crash on the perilous Ortega Highway

The Ortega Highway is known among motorcyclists as a demanding and challenging road. It's a fast, twisty, motorcycle road with perilous corners. The danger includes cliffs and embankments. Unfortunately, picturesque, curvy Ortega Highway is the site of many fatal crashes, often involving motorcycle riders.

Popular Instagram and YouTube motorcyclist, Annette Carrion, 33, from Irvine, California died Saturday, March 31st, 2018 while traveling alone on one of her favorite stretches of road. The accident occurred at 10:30 am when her motorcycle went off at Morrell Canyon on the Ortega Highway in Lake Elsinore.

Annette took a corner too hard, crashed, flipped the bike and went over a barrier to fall 50 feet down an embankment. The CPH noted that she was doing 70 to 80 mph in a 30 mph zone -- speed was the primary factor for the loss of control in the corner.

Annette Carrion was a popular figure in the SoCal world of motorcycling with many followers admiring her efforts to bring more female riders into the sport. Carrion and two other women created a motorcycling group called the Redline Ravens.

Tragically, her parents had recently passed away making this news even more hard-hitting for her friends and family. Annette's boyfriend was devastated by the news, “Two and a half years ago, this beautiful angel entered my life, and instantly changed me forever. She was so full of life, and always ready to take on any adventure. She was the most humble, loyal, and honest person I’ve ever met.”
