Three-wheeling recall: 2013 Can-Am Spyder ST and RT roadsters catching fire!

Is a Spyder a motorcycle? Some say yes, I say no but the three-wheeler still lives in the motorcycle world so I want to share this recall info with all you.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (U.S.) has issues a 100% recall for all Bombardier model year 2013 Can-Am Spyder ST and RT series roadsters (5,000+ vehicles).

Under some riding conditions, the tandem master cylinder manifold inlet may melt and cause brake fluid dripping onto a heat source which may lead to a vehicle fire. Three fires have been reported so far with no associated injuries.

If you own a Spyder but have not been informed of the recall, contact 1-888-638-5397 in the US and Canada.

9:30 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern time Monday to Thursday, and 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern time Friday.

Ride safe.

I did the demo ride when they first came out and I can honestly say color me unimpressed. The fact it has an automatic gearbox (even the sport model is semi-manual) is not something I ever want. I also didn't like the feel in the turns. It's lot less visceral than a motorcycle, and maybe that's the point. They're not aimed at die-hards like me

That ROTAX is huge! A Spyder on fire would not be a good thing! This recall will definitely hurt their current bid to India's transportation council requesting that BRP sell their products there.
