Two-wheeled freedom: Hat tops list for motorcycle ownership in Alberta

"Rev the engines, Medicine Hat is number one in Alberta when it comes to motorcycle ownership.

This is just one of the many statistics used in Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta's Vital Signs publication that paints a picture of who we are as a community.

Drawing from the Alberta Vehicle Geographical Statistics, Vital Signs notes that in 2009 there were 2,465 registered bikes in Medicine Hat, while in 2012 this was 2,534.

That's 40 and 41 motorcycles per 1,000 people respectively.

Comparatively, Calgary has 23 bikes per 1,000 people, Red Deer 34 per 1,000 and Lethbridge 27 per 1,000." - Medicine Hat News
