Getting ready for L.A. riding

Los Angeles, United States

Been thinking about my new bike and am starting to get a little hesitant about the L.A. traffic. Just as a car driver, I have seen numerous car drivers, totally oblivious to bikers. I have seen a couple instances of careless bikers, but by far, the car drivers are out of touch. Can any other riders share how they deal being a biker in L.A.?

Kia ora Sean, Thanks for following Blueymac. I had much the same feeling about riding in SF & the Bay area when we lived there. It scared the living bejesus out of me crossing from Berkeley into SF or riding the Freeway down to Oakland. My solution was simple (after travelling the rest of the US, UK & Europe), we moved back to New Zealand, a country the size of California with a current population of 4.3million. My serious suggestion is to make your bike really LOUD, ride when the car drivers are still in bed, stay off the Freeways & ride what we Kiwi's call the "No Registration & Warrent of Fitness" routes. Safe riding Mate.
