The Bimota BB3 is the first new motorcycle from the company under it's new owners, Daniele Longoni and Marco Chiancianesi. The boutique Italian brand is well known for it's striking designs and the new BB3 is no different. Built around the BMW S1000RR engine, the BB3 is purely about the pursuit of performance.

The 193hp German power-plant is mated with a steel trellis frame up front, with the rest of the chassis being aluminum, including the swing arm which is machined out of a solid block of aluminum. Weighing in at 180kg, it's a beautifully executed package. As you would expect, the entire motorcycle is fitted with high-end components such as Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, carbon fibre tail section as well as a full complement of electronic aids.

All of this doesn't come cheap though. There will be no more than 150 available during the first year of production and if you want one when they start shipping in May (in Europe initially), you'll need 55,000 Euro. Time will tell if the BB3 can be the start of a new life for the perennially struggling Italian brand, but it certainly seems like a very strong step forward.

Those Italian girls are always so pretty... It's interesting to see Bimota move away from Ducati as the donor engine. $55k is a lot but it sure does look good.
