Kawasaki Want You to Ride the Future (Tokyo Motor Show)

Kawasaki J Vehicle - Green Tokyo, Japan

Kawasaki showed off something special at the Tokyo Motor Show yesterday.

Kawasaki J-Vehicle Concept

Kawasaki J-Vehicle Concept

The J-Vehicle concept is only a concept for now, but its' clearly channeling the spirit of Akira (or Tron if you're not up on your Anime, but you really should check it out)

According to the little information given, it will be an electric vehicle with Kawasaki's largest battery yet, which they're calling the Gigacell. The cool part though is that it transforms.

The front wheels split apart to provide a "comfort" mode...

And for when you want to get your speed on, can become a "two" wheeled lay down racer. Looks like the two front wheels become "linked" somewhat like the Peugeot MP3 scooter but in a much cooler way.

Unfortuantely, that's about as much as Kawasaki are saying. No word on if the conversion is a the flick of a swtich, or if it's a manual job. Nothing about power, cost, specs or even availabilty. i guess that's what concept means though.

One thing is for certain: I want it

I guess it is kind of a hyper Piaggio MP3, I'm okay with 3 wheels (or are there 4?) as long as it leans into the corners like a proper bike, otherwise forget it.

Does it ride single track?

Very cool. Kudos to Kawasaki for doing this concept -- they haven't exactly been innovating much as of late.

Never thought I'd ride a three-wheeler but now I'm not sure. Seating position looks highly uncomfortable - too much weight in the shoulders.

It looks like a rowing machine! @Alex I'm shocked that you're excited about a 3 wheeler that converts from a wheelchair to a rowing machine to sportsbike. Hehe. @jordan @champers @devon what do you think?

Yes, I guess you could say it looked like a Dodge Tomahawk, but this thing looks like it has an advantage in that it won't be the weight of an small home.
