History comes back to life

Hesketh 24 (2014) - White

No-one's bought a new Hesketh in 30 years, but that looks like it's about to change. Details just broke on their new 24.

The 1950cc V-Twin engine makes 120bhp. It's not much compared to a modern Ducati but then anyone can buy one of those.

You'll also get the usual race-spec components: Ohlins suspension, Beringer brakes and BST carbon wheels and (somewhat oddly) a colossal 22.7l tank underneath the engine. At least it'll keep that mass low down for easy handling.

The styling is a bit special, too. It's styled after James Hunt's victourious 1973 Hesketh F1. The name, 24, even comes from that on Hunt's car.

Unfortunately, it's also the number that will be made, and they'll be available from Feb 2014. Like any bike where they make just twenty four of them, the price is unannounced: if you have to ask, you can't afford it in other words.

I want to see their revamp of the 'Vampire', their tourer. Or maybe I just like the name 'cause the Vampire looked pretty ugly.
