BMW fuel pump recall

BWM look to have a major issue on their hands. The National Highways Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have forced BMW to issue a recall for over 50,000 motorcycles due to a potential fuel pump leak. Specifically, the flange around the fuel pump is prone to crack and potentially leak fuel. As you might expect, this could be a fire hazard.

The recall covers models in the R, K, S1000 and HP2 ranges of motorcycles, and can affect models as old as 2005. The solution is to either reinforce the flange or to replace the entire fuel pump.

If your local BMW dealer hasn't already called, it might be worth following up to see if you are affected.
