Most Ural Motorcycles Are Sold In the United States.

Dealernews latest report says that in 2013, half of the motorcycles shipped from Ural wound up in the hands of American riders.

Now, the company has announced the first U.S. dealers that will receive the 2014 Ural model lineup as well as a new demo tour that begins in February.

In 2013, Ural said it shipped 1,206 motorcycles from its factory, and 95 percent of them (1,151) were exported. The United States is the largest market for Ural, and U.S. dealers sold 604 units in 2013. The 2WD models - Gear Up, Patrol and Patrol T - were especially popular, accounting for 428 of the motorcycles sold in the U.S. In fact, the 2WD feature is second only to sidecars in popularity: 98 percent of the Urals shipped in 2013 had sidecars.

Ural of New England led the way in U.S. sales, with 99 sold. The other top U.S. dealers included TriQuest Motorcycles and Sidecars, Heindl Engineering, Raceway Ural and Holopaw Ural.

Although New England leads the way in terms of Ural dealers, California residents seem to love the bike the most: that state led the way with 77 motorcycles sold in 2013. By comparison, the runner-up state was Texas with 43 sold.

The 2014 Ural models will begin showing up in dealerships in February. The dealers who are slated to receive the first shipments include:

Ural has also organized a demo tour, which kicks off in February with four stops, beginning with Raceway Ural in Salem, Ore., on Feb. 8. The tour then heads to California, with stops at San Diego BMW on Feb. 15, Sacramento Ural on Feb. 22 and TriQuest Motorcycles and Sidecars in Santa Clara on Feb. 23. The full schedule is still growing.
