Carducci SC3 Harley-Davidson Dual Sport Conversion

Harley Davidson Unknown Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Jim Carducci founded Carducci Dual Sport to basically build himself a bike that was street good and and off-road great.

Essentially, Jim ended up building a commercial conversion kit for converting a Harley Sportster into an on-road/off-road dual sport motorcycle. The conversion is designed for the Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 and 1200 from 1993-2003.

Why a dual sport Harley-Davidson?

After almost 10 years of thinking about it, Carducci decided the Sportster motor was key for it's tractable low-end power and torque. Both of which are ideal for dual sporting, he explained to Bike EXIF "Plus, I just love the sound, feel, and look of its V-Twin motor-it has lots of soul!”

He named it the S3 Adventure. Carducci designed the bike from his garage in Sunnyvale California, he sourced machine parts from local and aftermarket shops in Silicon Valley. What remains of the Sportster is the modified frame, engine, rear brake caliper rotor, master cylinder axel, instrumentation, oil tank, wire harness and handlebar switches.

But Carducci is most proud of the hand forged gas tank and the swing arm.

In terms of a ride, Carducci told Motorcycle USA that for him, the SC3 falls somewhere between the performance of a KTM 950 and 990 in terms of off-road capability. That's setting the ride expectations very high.

Very cool. Kind of a Mad Max sort of thing. I'm all for it, but like @teramuto says, not for $72,000. I'll stick to my KTM's 🙂

@teramuto - you build it, I'll ride it. The last thing you want is that happening the other way around

@teramuto @alex I'm in. It looks shorter than a KTM 🙂 I'll ping Jim and see if he wants to come down for Burning Tires!Â

This is a way cool bike and I would love love love to have one.  But really - $72,000 ????  That's a bit insane.  I'm betting one could fab this bike up with "off the shelf" parts and a bit if ingenuity for a fraction of $72K.

Gotta admire the guy's creativity though.  Who would have thought of this.....
