The Brake Light Initiative

Ohio, United States of America

"We have a problem in this sport. Bikes and tires are better than ever, yet riding at trackdays and on the back roads isn't improving"

Nick Ienatschthe, author of The Pace, has a new article out called The Brake Light Initiative. In it, he provides a strong argument for learning to use brakes correctly during turns to decrease your turn radius, improve your control, and heighten safety in the curves overall.

I bought two books a couple years ago called "Twist of the wrist" by Kieth Code.  They showed me many things to do and be aware of, it as well talks about trail braking and I feel I am a better rider having read these two books.

A good article, if a little hard to read and In the old days, we called it trail braking.

Think of it less about riding with the appropriate speed for conditions than the appropriate control for conditions. It's contrary to everything we teach here in Ontario, but it will make you a better rider.
