Old Winchester Grade Road and White Bird Grade, ID

Old Winchester Road runs just north between Winchester to Culdesac, through the hilltops of central Idaho.

Winchester Grade Road is an amazing short ride with crazy tight corners and switchbacks typical of Idaho and offers panoramic views of wide open fields and farm lands. The road is very narrow with limited shoulders and few guardrails. Expect oncoming motorists to cross the yellow line! Keep climbing up until you get to Fowler Road then loop back on Old Hwy 95 or what is known as White Bird Grade Road to enjoy the ride for a second time.

Continue along White Bird Grade Road to the small town of White Bird. Every turn had a mix of gravel, manure, and loose cattle that will certainly slow you down but the road is still a good one and it will not disappoint.

In White Bird check out to the Silver Dollar Tavern (100 Main, White Bird, ID 83554, United States, Tel: 208-839-2293). They have the coldest $2 beer in Idaho, hot coffee, and a classic western playing on the TV. Behind the bar, there used to be a small dining room that looked more like someone's living room but the restaurant has been closed for a couple years now. This is the town's main meeting spot packed with locals. It's a highly recommended stop if you're passing through.
