Peak to Peak highway Colorado

Here is the peak to peak highway in Northern Colorado from Estes Park to Idaho Springs. There are some opportunities to make a shorter ride but this is what I did today. Starting in Estes Park head south on Hwy 7. It starts climbing out of town. It is a nice ride along the top of the Rockies.

The Colorado Dept. Of transportation seems worried about us. Seems every curvy mountain road has one of these caution signs on it. In a few miles you will come to the junction with Hwy. 72. We want 72. You can stay on 7 and that will take you in to Lyons if you are looking for a shorter ride. We continue along 72 to Nederland. Again here you can take a different route and drop down into Boulder if you want to. You can also stop here for a bite or a little rest stop. Or if you want look up. "Frozen Dead Guy Days" if you want some local color. But we press on. There are a couple of other small towns along the way and there is also this little road house.

They sometimes have live music on the weekends. Continuing along our route we next hit Blackhawk and Central City, legal gambling in Colorado. From here down toward Denver the weekend Afternoons can get busy. Next we will come to Hwy 6. You can turn toward Golden but we head toward Idaho Springs. It is where this road meets I 70 the end of our ride is.

Another road house. This one is only open on the weekends though. You can get a little food and maybe some live music too. Now it's up to you where to next. I 70 back home, or forward (West) to more adventure.
