Great Radio Doc on Ernst Degner/DKW

if you've never heard this story, you should. It's the story of Ernst Degner who, 50 years ago, rode and improved two stroke engines to be world beaters for the East Germans. At the peak of success, he took his family and defected to the West and Suzuki, jump starting their years of success.

It has it all - bikes, race wins, spies and good old fashioned bravado.

And if you really want to get a feeling for it, I'd also recommend the Stealing Speed: The Biggest Spy Scandal in Motorsport History book by Matt Oxley. it's a brilliant read, even if you're not that into the bikes.
