Erik Buell: The legend returns

Now, I've never ridden a Buell, but that's only becuase they are pretty rare. I think I've only ever seen one for sale and that certainly wasn't at the Harley dealership that used to also be my old Triumph dealer.

I've no idea why the Harley politics were the way they were, but i'd hazard a guess that they're a very conservative lot as they don't even seem to be able to sell too many v-rod bikes, but whatever the reason, I was saddened when Erik Buell and HD parted ways. Sure, his bikes were a bit maverick but they always got pretty reasonable write ups, despite being saddled with HD engines.

In the spirit of "you can't keep a good man down" he's back and seemingly better than ever. Most of those maverick ideas are also back but the bike looks better than ever as you can see in the following article

At $40k or so, I don't think I'll be buying one, but it's certainly good to see the US producing sportsbikes again. It's even better to see them winning races.
